The movies would have every camper think that beans and franks are the sole food eaten by campers. Camping recipes never have to include hotdogs and beans. With fresh foods and a hot fire, any food can be created for that fireside meal.  The only limitations to easy camping recipes it is the weight of the food.  The lighter the food, the more elaborate the easy camping recipes can be.  The camping recipes can include everything from fried rice to spaghetti and meatballs.  For the truly an adventurous camper, why not try some camping sushi.

Camping recipes for fried rice start at home.  While rice can be cooked over an open flame, the time and water it takes to cook the rice may be too consuming for the campers. Instead, the rice can be cooked ahead of time and stored in a chilled lunch box. The other ingredients like canned vegetables, oil and soy sauce do not need refrigeration. The ingredients for this camping recipe can be combined over the fire in a cast iron skillet or camping pan. Spaghetti and meatballs is another easy camping recipe. Again, the noodles will need to be cooked ahead of time as will the meatballs. The spaghetti sauce can be opened at the camp site where all of the ingredients can be combined.

Camping sushi is another camping recipe that requires very little effort. The rice will be cooked at home and stored with an ice pack until ready to use. The seaweed is very light weight and can be thrown into any backpack. When it is time to prepare this camping recipe, simply lay out the seaweed and press the rice onto the sheet. The sushi can then be rolled into a tube and served with soy sauce. For added flavor, avocado or cucumber can be added to the camping sushi without the need for refrigeration to complete this camping recipe.
