The camping shower is a portable camp unit that holds water for quick bathing. There are two types of to choose from. The first requires the heat of the sun to warm the water. The second, uses a battery pack or electricity to warm the water for use. The sun warmed unit will cost less than the camping shower using power to warm water. Camping showers are priced based on capacity as well, with larger camping shower costing more than smaller camping showers. Most camping showers will be manufactured with black material to increase the amount of heat collected by the bag.
A camping shower requires a water source and a tree to hang from. Once hung, the nozzle can be opened to allow water to fall from the camping shower head. The water pressure will not be comparable to that of a home shower, but can be sufficient to wash and rinse several people depending on the water capacity of the camping shower. Most camping showers are used with eco-friendly, soap that rinses away easily to prevent the overuse of water. Portable camping showers generally come in three sizes, 2 1/2 gallons, 4 gallons and 5 gallons.
Electric or battery powered hot camping showers often require water hose attachment to supply water. These units work to heat the water instead of supplying the water for a shower. One exception is a camping shower that can hold water and heat the water in the same unit. This camping shower requires a campfire or camping stove to heat the water in the tank. The unit can be placed directly on the stove for quick heating and employs a tank thermometer to measure the temperature of the water in the camping shower tank. The length of time camping showers hold water will range based on water holding capacity and the amount of pressure used during the shower.
